Fareham Active Travel Public Consultation

Help us make Fareham town centre easier for walking, wheeling and cycling.

The study is exploring how people currently move around the town centre and identifying opportunities to make journeys safer, easier, more accessible and more attractive for everyone. This includes improving connections between key destinations such as the railway station, bus station, shopping areas, schools, leisure facilities, residential neighbourhoods, waterfront areas and open spaces.

You can take part by:

  • Completing the online survey;
  • Add your comments on the interactive map to show us where things could be improved.

All feedback received will be reviewed and used to help inform the final study recommendations.

The project forms part of the Council’s wider regeneration ambitions and aims to support:

  • Healthier lifestyles;
  • Improved accessibility and inclusivity;
  • Safer streets and public spaces;
  • Reduced traffic dominance;
  • Better connections between key destinations.

As part of the study, a series of walking and cycling audits have been undertaken across key routes within the town centre to identify existing barriers and opportunities for improvement. Issues identified include crossing safety, pedestrian priority, accessibility constraints, traffic speed, route quality and overall walking experience.

The purpose of this consultation is to gather feedback from residents, businesses, visitors, community groups and town centre users to better understand:

  • How people currently travel around Fareham;
  • The barriers that discourage walking and cycling;
  • Which routes and locations require improvement;
  • What changes would encourage more active travel trips.

Your feedback will help shape the development of recommendations and future improvement proposals for Fareham Town Centre.
