New Forest District Council Car Park Strategy

New Forest District Council is producing a new parking strategy. They wish to identify parking demand and supply in their car parks, across the district, over the next 20 years. This will help to make sure parking facilities for cars and other vehicle types are at the right level. And allow more access to towns.

This is also a chance to spot ways to make long-term improvements to how people travel in the district. Doing so will help reduce carbon emissions and help to meet the goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2030.

To do this effectively, the new strategy will look at the parking currently available in car parks the council operates. It will also consider public transport, and active travel, such as walking and cycling. The strategy will also address future transport trends.

As part of this work, the council wants to hear from you – residents, and visitors. If you are a business owner / employee within the district, please complete the separate business survey instead.

There will also be another opportunity to have your say on parking when the draft parking strategy will be published for comment in early 2025.

This survey will close on the 1st December 2024. It will be followed by a consultation on the draft strategy. This is likely to start in February 2025. 

This questionnaire has 25 questions. Most of them are multiple-choice. It should take about 10 minutes to complete, unless you have further comments. The questions ask about: 

• Parking in towns and village New Forest District Council car parks; 
• Finding a space and any issues in doing so in New Forest District Council car parks; 
• Quality of the parking experience in New Forest District Council car parks; 
• Disabled parking in New Forest District Council car parks; 
• Electric vehicle charging in New Forest District Council car parks.  

Please be sure to submit the survey once complete otherwise it will not be possible to include the feedback within the review that will occur after the consultation. 

The survey will be open from Tuesday 29 October 2024, and will last for nearly five weeks. Any responses received after Sunday 1 December 2024 may not be included in the analysis of the responses.
